A single building encapsulates a huge operation to manufacture and sell paper that students in all parts of the country have used for years and years. Top Flight is two parts factory, one part shipping warehouse, and one part office. Not to mention, the building takes up an entire city block.
There’s more to Top Flight than what meets the eye. The building on Central Avenue has been the home away from home of the Robinson family since 1920, and actually began as a paper box company, but you can read more about that on the website. No history lesson here, sorry.
Top Flight is located in Chattanooga, Tennessee, a city that has a lesser-known reputation for being a big city, with a small-town feel. The same thing can be said for the environment at this big paper company, with a small business feel. A large amount of the employees here have worked for the company for years and years.
When you enter the building from any side, it’s hard not to notice a really loud humming, due to the machinery located on the first and second of three levels of the building. These floors are like a hive, constant buzzing, busy workers, and fork-lifts flying through the aisles. Everyone has a job that needs to be done as quickly as possible, especially during the early spring- when back-to-school orders come flowing in.
The third floor holds the offices of customer service associates, managers, the creative team, the production team, and IT (accounting and secretarial offices are on the first floor. Working in the office is quiet compared to the bustling factory, but it’s where decisions are made. Plus, if any member of the office staff feels like they can handle a little more hustle and bustle, he or she can take a trip to the floors below to observe and learn where friendly waves are exchanged over loud machines. Over 150 employees work together every day to send school and office supplies to you from a single building on Central Avenue.
